The F Word Is A "Painkiller"

Imagine having your tongue pierced for the first time. Or getting your first tattoo. Think of the agony during the anticipation and the moment when the needle pricked your soft skin.

"****! That hurts!" That would be the usual response.
We often hear people cuss when they're under "painful" circumstances. And more often than not, it's the F word.

Cussing, for most of us I believe, has become part of our reflex --- we scream the F word when our finger gets slammed by a car door, when we accidentally cut our finger while trying to slice the onion, when someone strikes our head with a hard wood, or some silly b**** steps on our foot with her 4-inch killer heels.

Recently, British researchers found out that the F word or any other bad word for that matter actually helps reduce physical pain. They even conducted a research on this and found out that using bad language helped people "withstand discomfort longer and reduce the perception of pain intensity".

Put it simply, cussing "helps you cope" when you experience pain.

However, before you go yelling four-letter words at every turn, consider this: apparently, swearing reduced the perception of pain more strongly in women than in men."

Is it because men swear more than women on a day-to-day basis?

Well whatever the case is, when you overhear someone say the F word on your next visit to a salon to have your hair waxed, probably that someone is his/her first time or that he/she has gone Brazilian.

As for me, the F word never fails to help me ease the pain.

Do you think swearing helps ease the pain?
